Solo-built the core of map-it, a civic-tech platform for participatory neighbourhood mapping, now in live pilot with city administrations, associations, and local initiatives. Built structured "mapping call" campaigns where residents place geo-located ideas, complaints, and proposals directly on a map of their neighbourhood. Implemented spatial queries with SQLite/SpatiaLite and map rendering with MapLibre, plus image uploads and multi-step campaign workflows. Built a highly interactive, native-feeling mobile UI (bottom-sheet interactions) with Inertia and Svelte 5, since most residents arrive via a shared link on their phone, and an admin interface for organisations using the default Rails stack (Hotwire, server-rendered views).

Backend and full-stack engineering on MeisterTask, a task-management product (Kanban boards, dashboards, automations, integrations) used by millions of users. Designed and evolved GraphQL and REST APIs serving native iOS, Android, desktop, and web clients. Led the migration of production infrastructure to Kubernetes and introduced OpenTelemetry-based observability (distributed tracing, structured telemetry) across the stack. Built and maintained background-job infrastructure with Sidekiq, did performance work and refactoring of aging subsystems, and sustained product engineering against SLA and enterprise constraints, including ongoing code review and mentoring.

Sole maintainer of an academic research platform, live since 2012, indexing 3,000+ records (persons, places, sources, images, and e-texts) for scholars of Tibetan Buddhism. Responsibilities include Rails version upgrades, dependency patches, and server administration, alongside performance work, bugfixes, regular data backups, and occasional schema changes. The work emphasises careful, incremental refactoring of legacy code where a full rewrite would lose institutional knowledge, keeping a long-lived research tool current, reliable, and habitable for its users over many years.
